Received my Bessa R today

Just curious: I keep reading praise about the Bessa R; what is it that apparently makes the Bessa R so special versus e.g. the R3M or R2M ?

Stefan.

It's no better than a R3M or R2M. MOF many say it's not as good, but as a bessa R owner I must say it's a darn fun camera to use. Also accepts a vast array of screw mount lenses which are pretty cheap in price when compared to m-mount lenses. The sm lenses are no slouch either. I love the 35/2.5 color skopar & the industar 61 lens is a great 50.

I guess that comparing to the R3M or R2M it has a major advantage -> price eheh

Today I am going out to shoot some abandoned mansions outside town. She's coming with me and the 15mm superheliar 😀
Wish me luck (I mean, hope there are no junkies on the mansions) ehehehe
Regards,

Sergio

The Mansion "safari" was good, here are the first results with Super Heliar 15mm:

I like the empty house photos.

The shutter will sound louder than a Leica, but you know there are two shutters in there (for light sealing) and they operate in opposite directions so they can cancel out any shake.

On my R3A when the batteries are low I see the LED's at both ends flashing together. But every day often I can't see any LED's at all which does not matter with sunny 16 or Auto anyway.

The meter problem guess it was poor battery, but really sometimes I almost forget about the meter.. I am really very used to sunny 16 🙂
However on some tricky situations it can be really helpful.
I am happy that I shot several photos with 1/15 and even one or two with 1/8 and they look reasonably sharp. Shooting with a wide angle helps, but...
