Great pictures. I really love this lens for portraits. But what is this horrible chromatic aberration on your first shot? It looks like a picture taken with the last el-cheapo camphone 😱 😱 Never seen anything like that with my 50 Heliar 😕

Cheers,

Abbazz

Well Abbazz, I think it's more movement than anything else, it was quite windy that day as per the ripples on the water, I hope there is nothing wrong with the lens..I don't think so..

The foliage against the sky in the upper left and upper right corners has the same purple fringing as in pictures from cheap digital point and shoot cameras:

To me, it doesn't seem to result from movement due to wind, nor does it look like a processing artifact. I am quite surpised, because I have never seen anything like that in the few hundred pictures taken with my Classic Heliar.

Cheers,

Abbazz

I'll have to research this more Abbazz, I didn't see it on any other images, note the 3rd image in my post, thanks for the heads-up...

Probably the 2/50 Heliar is too "pushed" for speed for photographing twigs against bright sky wide open. That was to expect for a lens consisting of 5 elements.
The 5th picture shows what it is capable of. Nice set.

cheers Frank

Thanks Frank, I haven't seen this in any other photos, but you are right, that's a hard combination to photograph just right, thanks again for your input and comments..

Some nice looking photos, I like the last one. I dont know why, but for some reason I really dont like the results that this lens gives, the out of focus parts seem harsh, it doesnt seem that sharp from any of the photos ive seen, and the details seem to be more pastel then fine tipped pen.

This isn't a lens for everyones taste. Probably there are sharper ones (at least wide open) but it's sharp enough at least for me.
