Ronald: How can you tell if your Lexar cards are not counterfeit?

All card companies offer counterfeit verification on their websites. You just key in the serial number.

Thank you Edward.
What has been documented on the use of counterfeit cards? Can they damage the M9? What type of damage?

Sandisk Extreme 32GB worked fine for a while, then I suddenly lost images from the card. Not using it anymore.
Tried a 16GB Pretec card that was recommended by a user on Leica Forum. Total disaster.
To be fair, my camera had to go back to Leica for a replacement of the memory control board, so I can't blame the cards entirely I guess. Hard to say.
Then I bought a Kingston 8GB class 4 card that works like a charm. Rapid save times, and quick transfers to the computer. It's made in Japan and feels quite sturdy. No problems so far.
That's my experience for what it's worth.

I also have used Transcend 16 gb class 10 cards exclusively on the M9, since it destroyed 2 Sandisk cards. I think it is irresponsible to just post messages like I have used Sandisk for x years without problems. The problem is very well documented and if it didn't happen yet to you it will happen sooner or later, to you and the OP. It's really like saying, I've been playing Russian roulette for a year now and I never shot myself in the head![]()
Nonsense. I can only report my experience. I don't adjust it based on the hysterical hearsay I read on the internet. Just because some folks have had problems doesn't by any means say that everyone has or will.
I read a lot of hysterical net nonsense about the M9 in general. My camera has operated flawlessly since I purchased it. So that's what I say when asked.

This is cute. It is almost like you guys are discussing films. Or something important.

No it cannot damage your camera.
Judging by forum posts it can damage one's ego, though.

Just bought a M9 so I'm looking for some 16GB SDHC cards to go along with the 8 GB Sandisk Ultra cards I've been using with my M8 and wonder what was working for others in 2015.

Panasonic Gold, for the simple reason that they are more reliable, having data-checking technology.
