For some reason I have an urge to shoot a few rolls of slide film in medium format. I don't really want Velvia and Astia appears to have gone.

Please suggest what I might like🙂

Cheers

Mike

Provia 100F is my favourite if I want realistic colour. I like it.

Provia 400x is fantastic stuff.

If I want saturation and vivid colour I use Kodak 100VS. I actually like 100VS a lot. It's a fun film. I'll certainly be doing a few fall walk-abouts with it in the Pentax 67.

I used 40 rolls of Provia 100F in my Hasselblad last month on my drive across the country. I am very happy with the results I got. Kodak E100G is very good too. I think the Fuji stuff has a little finer grain, but only slightly. They render color slightly different; I think the Kodak is slightly more saturated.

ektachrome e100g grainless and beautiful color, very natural.. it is my go to film for people and environment now that astia
is gone, if you like astia you will love e100g

You'll have to be a bit more specific to get better responses.
I thought that only 35mm is gone...Adorama seems to have 120.

For slide film, I used to prefer Fuji over Kodak, but right now, I'd say - get some of the new Portra - either 160 or 400 (I like the NC better) or even Ektar.

Astia is indeed gone which is a shame. It was my favorite slide film in 120.

As others have said, E100G is also very nice with neutral colors (like Astia). Provia is more saturated than Astia. I prefer 400x to 100f as you get speed and it's still very fine grained. Pushed Provia 400x (up to EI1600) also has a look that is kinda cool IMO. E100G or Provia 100f + Provia 400x for low light is a great combo to have in 120.

If you are willing to shoot C41, there are some absolutely amazing films available in 120 right now. Portra 160 and 400 and Ektar 100 are absolutely amazing films in 120.

Fuji still makes Astia in 120 and 4x5. 135 is discontinued. I have not shot MF - only 135, but Astia is beautiful stuff. I have switched to E100G now, but Portra is great, too.

I got a bunch of Kodak Chrome Elite at a garage sale recently. I haven't shot slides in years. A young family and the financial responsibility that goes along with it dictated home processed B+W.

Is Astia gone? I liked it, but Velvia 50-100 is good. Just not for portraits, personally, I like Kodak Portra (C-41) for that. I just re-read: Astia 100 is gone with 135. Well, anyway I like it in 120:

Provia. 100F is what I go to (often shot at 50 with the development changed to compensate at Samy's, $5/roll E6), but if I know I'll need speed, I go 400X and don't hesitate to shoot it at 1600 (again, development changed to compensate).

+1 for Ektachrome 100VS. Some say its too vivid, I don't think so. Just nice, saturated colors that look just like I remember it. Can't comment on how good it is for people photos, though.

When shooting classic cars, Kodak Ektachrome E100VS is hard to beat! I also like E100G, especially for in the woods. On the Fuji side I've mainly used Velvia, but I might shoot more Provia 400x if it wasn't so blasted expensive!
