Canada, eh.
Now that I'm dabbling in digital and working with just the limited memory space of an ipad, I'm looking for a service to upload my photos to. Something like Flickr I guess, although Joe's experience with them isn't a good one. Looking for something free. Any recommendations?

I've recently become aware of an apple wifi router with storage. Can anyone speak to that as a hardware solution instead of a service?

I'm finding Apple's new Photos app and iCloud sync to be just about perfect, and it will let you choose to store only thumbnails on a storage-challenged device. It's costly, though, if you have a lot of pictures.

Google just introduced a new free service today, Google Photos, with unlimited storage: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/picture-this-fresh-approach-to-photos.html

That might be the way to go!

I heard that today google launched a new service called google photos, with free storage space for up to 16mpx and 1080 videos , for web ,android and ios, worth checking out.

You just need a google account. If you use Chrome and you are logged into Google / Gmail, then there's a button on the top right corner of your screen next to your +Name which if you press will give you the options - one being photos.

I use USB powered external hard drives to store my photos with an iMac. I think they are safer that way.

With an iPad I believe the best way to store photos would be with a wi-fi enabled external hard drive. There are some routers that have an installed hard drive or have a USB port that would work with a USB hard drive.

Check out an Apple store and see what they recommend.

My wife and I both have iPads but I don't do any photo processing with them.

1 free terra of full size jpegs at Flickr for free. Private auto sync for your jpegs from your iPad.
Even if you use something else it's as easy as free gets for a back up or back up to your back up 😉
