recommend things to do in BALTIMORE and restaurants

Phillips restaurant located in the inner harbour is a very good place for seafood, there are other restaurants that offer seafood as well, try the Crabcake.
As said before, inner harbour is the happening place, as is the Aquarium, which is located there. You may also want to attend a baseball game, thats if the Orioles are still playing when you arrive.
When will you be there?

Seems to me there was a thread earlier this year about things to do and see in Baltimore -- some excellent suggestions.

I don't know, IMHO, the Inner Harbor is a pretty touristy, pretty generic "festival marketplace," like S. Street Seaport in NYC, Faneuil Hall in Boston, Riverwalk in San Antonio, Ghirardelli Sq. in SF, etc., etc. For more of the "real" Baltimore, I would recommend going to slightly less touristy neighborhoods like Fells Point, Federal Hill, Hampden, Little Italy (bigger than Little Italy in NYC but smaller than S. Philadelphia or the N. End in Boston), etc. or visiting 1 of the city markets (e.g., Cross Street).

For museums & such, the Walters downtown is nice & I've heard great things about the Visionary Art Museum (www.avam.org).

For food, I'm not familiar w/seafood buffets, per se, but can recommend Obryckis (http://www.obryckis.com) for crabs.

I second the Walters.
Anyone know if Peabody's bookstore is still in business, that was always a fun place.

Go to Fell's Point and try the mussels at Bertha's Mussels. Trully delicious. The inner harbor is nice, but very touristy. I always prefered Fell's Point but a water taxi gets you back and forth in a couple of minutes.

As far as attractions go, Edgar Allen Poe's house is not far from the inner harbor and well worth a visit. Also, if it's still there, check out the WWII vintage diesel-electric submarine parked over in the inner harbor.

Have a great trip. Baltimore is a great town.

thank you guys. just got in (home)
i went to the inner habour and just did the touristy stuff first
perhaps my next visit.
ate at phillips. seafood buffet was ok (some stuff reminds me of dorm food)
but the crab cakes, crab imperial and crab legs were good.
thanks guys!
