All,

I wanted to start this thread and see who you are following on instagram and why.

I'll start with 2

Sohail Karmani: I originally found his work on Flickr, then on Leica group on facebook and finally on instagram. His street portraiture work is really quite good and i keep expecting him to quit his day job (Prophesier at NY University) .

Leica Women: A feed of work devoted to women who photograph with everyone's favorite camera, the Leica. The feed has a mix of historical as well as current (yet to be known) photographers. It's worth exploring.

Reliably interesting and stimulating

I find it difficult to keep up with too many posters and tend to follow some then drop as their style tires, it seems a trend on Instagram to post work that really sticks to a formula the above I find more varied and interesting daily.

This is a plug for my gal who is a fashion blogger with 256K followers. Only started her blog about three years ago.

I do most of the photography using a Leica SL and a 50 Lux-SL.

"Maggie" is represented by Elite Modeling in London, was featured on NBC World News Tonight, been interviewed live for the BBC, and currently will be giving a TED Talk next week in Washington D.C. on her fashion blogging.

So now my gal is a celeb. Whenever we go out she gets recognized by her followers. German tourists see her and say, "You're the Accidental Icon," to confirm. When she travels to Lisbon, Shanghi, London, Madrid, Seattle, Montreal, Toronto she gets recognized.

BTW most of the time my photography gets lifted off her Instagram, and it is rare that I get photocredits. The BBC gave me credits for another photographer's work, and I got credit for someone else's work. A producer at NBC World News Tonight said, "We will give you photo credits," but that did not happen. Also an online magizine mispelled my three letter last name.

Meanwhile my shots have been published all around the world. Basically lifted off my gal's Instagram. Likely only get a photo credit about 15-20% of the time.

https://www.instagram.com/petesouza/ Because he's Pete Souza!

https://www.instagram.com/cherylsenter/ Photographs of her dogs, mostly B/W, with a sprinkling of color.

I went to a talk at Photoville featuring Pete Souza. It was interesting getting the smut on what was going on behind the scenes.

Hard to imagine how Pete took over 2 million shots over the eight years he was the White House Photographer.

At that interview Pete said he is mighty tired. In the eight years he served as White House Photographer he only took one sick day and used only three weeks vacation. He really expressed that he needed down-time and a break. He is also releasing a book soon.

BTW Pete shot a Canon DSLR because of the quietest shutter. What an inspirational photographer.
