Rectangular Hood for CV 21/4 CS

I just picked up a CV 21mm and was wondering if anyone could give some insight into if the alternative hood that is sold for the 21/25/28 and if it blocks the viewfinder and is it necessary. I dont want to be worried with alot of flare but dont want a unwieldy appendage of the front of my compact lens. Any experience witht this hood would be appreciated.

I have this lens with the big rectangular alternative hood and I can't remember if it blocks the finder but I'm SURE it does not block the rangefinder focusing patch. It also does NOT block the external finder mounted on top of an M camera. I've only ever used the lens with this hood so I can't speak to how much more effective it is than the little round hood.
