Red light always flickrs

Hi all,

I have a problem with my GSN.

It worked perfectly until recently when all of a sudden red light started to flicker almost always 🙁. Additionally, when I hafl-press the shutter there's some buzzing sound coming form inside of the camera. Do you have an idea what could be the problem and how to fix it?

The battery inside is new and the yellow light works just as it should (checked the meter with my dSLR).

I opened the camera to check the pad, but it is firmly in it's place. I also removed the bottom plate, but everything seems to be ok down there too.

This is not unusual, so long as the red light is coming on only when the aperture setting is not correct. Quite a few of the Electros I come across do this, and many of them make buzzy noises as well, but they still function okay.
 
i have one that does the same thing. however, it drains the battery dead in just a few days (my experience). take the battery out when you're not using it.
 
I have an MG-1 that was doing that, and after 50 or so operations of the shutter button in rapid succesion it quit doing it. Just dirty contacts if you ask Russ. Works fine now.

Is he buzzing sound coming from dirty contacts? If you keep your finger pressed on the shutter release and are altering the lightning conditions by pointing the camera towards dark and light areas, the same sound occurs. Couldn't it be the timing capacitor?

I think the buzzing sound comes from the switch which operates the lamp, the dirty contacts cause the switch open and close at high frequency.

I would tend to agree. I have worked on numerous cameras that buzzed really badly that didn't after cleaning the contacts.

The sound always occur in the critical zone between under/over, a bad contact wouldn't that be bad contact all the way?
