Red menace dee-feated ?

It's worrying - since my M 8 arrived , a month ago , the red mist has cleared ...

OK , I have a few ex-USSR cameras , like 25 or so , and still love seeing them around me , grounding me in this ASdee '' lostness '' , but the craving to buy more Leica pretenders and kievs has dee'sipated ...

The M 8 , [ ''emma '' 'cos '' M 8 '' is such a mouthfull ] , is actually re-teaching me , instantly , about the magc of aperture / shutter combinations , which, together with some fine results from my Kiev 4m and meter , is creating more confidence in using my dee-rangedfinders .

But I will be more likely to load amy '47 Leica IIIc than my Zorki / Feds ...

Of course , the fact that the M 8 has wiped out my finances has a marked effect on the Red mist , but there is something else - the sense that there are not so many good Ex-USSR cameras out there lately ... or maybe I got lucky initially , and have had a few duds before emma arrived .

I still '' need '' to have my best Kiev 2/ 3 serviced , but i am content with my twin Oeged Fed 1g Leicas , Oleged Fed 2 , and Oleged Kiev 4 / 4m .... maybe , I just have what I am content with ... [ except a brass '' Leica " ! ] .

But the Red mist is missed a bit !

The red mist comes in waves ... as it passed over me I bought a Fed 2 a Kiev II a Moskva 5 and an Iskra. I told myself that these would be the cameras that would take me back to the roots of shooting film seat of the pants style if I happened to lose my way. They perform that function admirably ... especially the Fed 2 which reminds me how little money you really need to spend to have fun in photography!

The M8 is also fun ... but definitely at a premium! 😛

Through the years I've sold and traded all my gear, but the Fed 2 has stayed partly because it's too cheap to warrant a sale, and partly because it's such a workhorse (for my needs).
