Don't forget about posting your photos taken with FSU gear during the month of October in the "Red Oktober" group on Flickr. Anything without the proper tagging will be rejected. And no, it does not have to have red in the image.

If you're not on Flickr, then just post them here. Any FSU product made before Dec 1991 is eligible. At least the lens or camera has to be FSU, so you can use digital cameras with FSU lenses, or an FSU camera with say Pentax lenses. The use of old Smena film is a plus, and the cameras do not need to be rangefinders. And the images must have been taken in October of any year. Please let us know what your setup was.

I couldn't find the Flickr group, so I'll just share this here.

I went out last Friday with my 1957 Zorki-4 with matching Jupiter-8. I hadn't used the camera in nearly 4 years, and the last roll had some pretty extensive light leak issues, so while I was hopeful, I wasn't expecting great results. I had a freshly loaded 12 exposure roll of expired Mitsubishi MXIII 200 color film in the camera, and shot most of it Friday. On Sunday I mounted a Jupiter-12 on the Zorki, and then went out and finished the roll. Today I had the film developed, and I just finished scanning the roll. I'm happy to report that the camera worked flawlessly. Good frame spacing, and no light leaks at all.

Here's one from Friday with the Jupiter-8.

I participated in this even last year, but I had forgotten about it thus far this year. I have film in my Nikon S2, my CL, my Canon rangefinder, my Voigtlander folder and my Baby Rolleiflex... I better buy another roll for my Zorki and move it to the front of the pack!

Last week I borrowed a FED 2 from my sister and shot a 12 exp. roll of Mitsubishi MXIII color film with it. I finished the roll yesterday and had it developed.

The FED 2 (late D type) is a nice little camera. The Industar-61 that was on it appears to have issues though. Many of the images feel like you're looking through fog, and a bit like they were shot using a cheap soft focus filter.
Here's one of the better frames from the roll.

Thanks 🙂
I checked the lens with a light, and as far as I could tell there wasn't any noticeable haze. I wonder if the elements are misaligned?

Here's one of the more extreme examples of the issue.

That's just downright nasty. There are plenty of examples of FSU lenses that were shipped over here that have been "repaired" by the seller, only for the buyer having to either return it, or get a refund. Or it could be it's not a good match to the FED 2.

I finished a roll in my FED 3. The Industar-61LD on this camera worked much better than the Industar-61 that was on the FED 2.

Raleigh, NC, is blest to have two film friendly camera shops in town. Peace and Southeastern Camera.

FED2, I26m, Kodak Gold 200. Cropped to a square because I liked it..
