Red Oktober 2018

Have had a Smena 8m for years that I never used - just rediscovered it in a drawer a few days ago. So I guess that'll be my cam for Oktober.

I hope a picture of my just-recieved Zorki 3m, is ok to show a few hours short of October.
Easy to load, speeds from 1 to 1/1000 on a single knob, no self timer to intrude, no sync to fail, and the shutter actuation has a nice light trigger. Film winding is about the same as my other FSU cameras, not Leica smooth, but nothing to complain about.

I spent the afternoon on my bicycle with the camera, both the bicycle and the Zorki handle great. The single eyepiece range/view finder is big & clear, with an adjustable diopter, the range patch, while not as bright as my M2, is very quick to focus. For someone looking for an "M3 experience" at a much, much lower entry, could not do much better than this.
I recommend my Ebay seller, Alex-Ukr-Alex, who supplied it with all maintenance done. This is my 5th FSU from him with nothing but praise for his service. I think he has another one like this, just as nice.

With help from my good friend and fellow member GerryM, I finished my first roll for Red Oktober 2018. For this year, I acquired a roll of Svema Color 125, and after some internal debate, I decided to shoot it in my 1957 Zorki 4.

This is from Wednesday.

You timed that flock of pigeons just right! Been a few backfires on that Chrysler.

how does it work? deadline? where to post?

Okay, once more:

Using any FSU (Former Soviet Union manufactured before Dec 31, 1991) camera or lens in any combination, taking photos during the month of October (on the Flickr group you can post pics from several years ago if you want), posting them to either this thread, or the "Red Oktober" Group on Flickr, or both.

Rangefinder, P&S, SLR, Medium Format, or Large Format are accepted. Industar lens on a Sony is accepted. Pentax (M42) lens on a Zenit is accepted. Hellios on a Yashica is accepted. I hope you get the idea.

Some fine entries already! 🙂

I shot two rolls of Double-X with a Zorki I over the weekend.
Should get round to developing them on Wednesday.
