I just went to ebay. The first item for sale was a red curtain 111c.There was 48 seconds left at the end it went for 340€😱😱

Another question is why are Hektor lens sooo much more expensive than "normal" leica glass??

Red curtains were used just during a brief period, WWII I believe. People want that "proof" that the camera is from that period.

Which Hektor? Which "normal" Leica lens? The prices vary from a couple hundred dollars to a couple thousand, depending on the lens. They're all over the map. Based on supply and demand, as always.

i looked in on red dot London England, where i found and bought a voigtlander lens

I looked at the 50mm Elmar s they were around £150 but worn out brass Hektors were the double,

Worse was one called 11ò clock I would have though an 11 oclock lens would be a warning not to buy???

I have lots of Nikon lens those i understand,as i do Voigtlander Leica thats still a big mystery

I bought a good Leica 11C to replace my 11 (made by Moscow)Today i understand why its a 2 and not a 3 and that a one is not the same,Nor is it certain that a 11C is older than a 3C

Im learning

Hektor lenses in 50mm (and 28mm) are a lot more rare than Elmars.

The red curtain cloth was bought left-over stock from Kodak as I recall. I've often heard people claim it was parachute material, or an experimental curtain for tropical climates.

The first IIIc cameras were equipped with it, until the cloth ran out at the end of 1941, beginning 1942.
