So I am using a Fotodiox Canon EF - Sony FE adapter and I notice a bit of flare sometimes that may be adapter related. The inside of the adapter is painted black but with a glossy paint and I wonder if it is having some detrimental effect.

Has anyone ever tried to do something to "anti-reflecty" their adapters before?

Which camera is this? The A7 and A7r cameras have some flare issues with point light sources. Adapter champer flare should be pretty distinct...if the problem goes away with a native lens, you could try sticking some electric tape to the inside of the adapter.

I had some significant internal flare issues with a PK>m4/3 adapter that if used with a Pentax 100mm f/4 macro. I found that a disk of black felt to narrow the mount opening (m4/3 is a small format relative to its mount diameter) along with lining the inside of the adapter side walls with black felt helped significantly.
