Reflecta CrystalScan 7200 or Plustek OpticFilm 7600i ?

I'm at the same point as you, reading reviews... it's really difficult because I think testers maybe "overjudge" some (missing) features on some devices... any oinions?

Neither. I´d recommend the new Reflecta ProScan 7200.

(Make sure to turn auto noise reduction off and scan at max resolution.)

Thanks for the comment, I was considering that one too... what convinced you, was it the higher speed?

Yes, its quite fast and IQ is very good. Just make sure to turn noise reduction off and scan at highest resolution (3600 dpi).

I am using the software that comes with it and post process in photoshop.

Like Fujitsu, I would advise the Pro Scan 7200. I don't have it myself (yet). I like the results I've seen so far, and the fact that it's one of a rare breed that delivers 90% of the promised 3600 DPI.
A lot of scanners in this price range promise 7200 DPI, but the results is scans with a maximum resolution of about 3600 DPI. But to get this quality you have to scan at the 7200 DPI setting, which results in larger files and slower scanning times. But does not give more quality. The ProScan 7200 does not have this problem, and it's very affordable.

well yes, that's a very good point.... having to compress all the images again seems not to be a good option... I think I'll go with the Proscan... no point in saving some hundred or two hundred bucks when you spend hundreds (thousands, actually) in lenses and bodies...
Thanks for all the feedback!!

Edit: I was a bit surprised that here (Switzerland, neighbour of Germany, the "home" of Reflecta afaik) the ProScan 7200 doesn't seem to be very popular... I just found two dealers selling it online, compared to the cheaper products or the Plustek scanners... well, I just ordered it, so I'm looking forward to getting it and testing it out 🙂
