My local camera stores never refrigerate their b&w film, but they do keep their pro color neg and slide film in a fridge. Has anyone else noticed this and is it normal practice?

Yea--I've never seen a pro store that refridgerates black and white.
I wouldn't worry about it.
I throw them in the fridge when I get home.
Don't know if it makes a difference--but that's just where I keep my film.
I don't feel weird about purchasing room-temp b&w.

Yes. Unless the room is like an oven the B&W film will be fine.

Truth is beauty
Color film is more problematic, and especially fast color film.

All the pro stores I knew kept the pro colour film in a fridge. But distressingly few pros use film any more so maybe it's changed.

Glazer's in Seattle still has a big ol' refrigerator case for both color and b+w film. Time to go down there and buy more.

So, should i keep my B+W film in the fridge? I'm assuming not from this thread?

In general film in my house doesn't age much as I'll buy only 10-12 rolls at a time, so I don't refrigerate my film. However, if I make a big purchase prior to a trip and have a lot left over, I'll put a brick or two in the fridge to keep it fresh. Generally this is over the winter when I don't shoot much, but even then it is probably not necessary as my basement darkroom temp is probably in the 50's for much of that time (except when I am actively using the space.)

I usually stick it in the fridge. Probably unnecessary, but it's a good place to have it. It can get 90 or more inside in the summer before I put the swamp cooler on, cheap skate that I am, and you never know. Can't hurt.
