I'm thinking about getting myself the mkII but can't find any info about something I'm wondering about the wifi:
using an iPhone, with no NFC, can i creat a hotspot and then connect the camera to that hotspot and then operate it and sync images? I'm wondering because on the go one might not find a wifi connection to to that.
Anyone tried that already?
Thanks!

If the RX100 is similar to other Sony compacts that have wifi, the camera is the hotspot. It will give you the SSID and password and you put in your iPhone. I did this with a Sony P&S and didn't need wifi. Sony's app is barebones and basically is only good for uploading photos ( rather the iphone downloads from the camera ). I was in Montana and would take pics then transfer them to my iphone then upload to facebook and instagram. It was fun, but in the end I gave the camera to one of my daughters.
