Registration of Used M8

I recently purchased a used M8. I thought I'd try registering it under my name on Leica's site but of course it stops me, saying that the camera is already registered.

I can't seem to find a way to update the registration so that the camera is registered under my name. Has anyone done this? Assuming it's even possible, is there any value in doing it?

You can list all your Leica products in the owners area on the Leica website. It is practical to have a register of serial numbers online.

Thanks, I'll see if there's a way to re-register the camera. Seems worth the trouble.

I had to do the same thing, just email Leica in Solms explaining the situation and give them your serial number.

Leica will ask the former owner whether he sold it or not.
If he confirms the fact of selling the cam Leica will reregister it, but will not send you filters.
