I had an M6 that I loved dearly but parted with in order to simplify my workflow. In the meantime, I've enjoyed (and made satisfying pictures with) an X100 and an X-Pro 1...both great cameras. I'd convinced myself that I was over my Leica phase, and moved on with technology.

The problem is...I could never seem to scratch that itch.

I'm happy to announce I'm back in the gang! I bought a Steel Grey M9 off that auction site. I should get it by the end of the week. More importantly, my wife supports the decision, so it's (mostly) guilt-free! What a woman:)

Congrats! I believe I was watching that auction too! I should have my M this coming week as well!

I'm planning on the Zeiss Biogon 35mm f2 lens. I had one on my old M6, and I truly believe it's the nicest non-Leica lens around (and equal to many Leica lenses). I'm happy to be returning to my favored 35mm because I've been shooting a 28/50 combo for a while and I never have the right one on the camera when I need it! ;) Simplicity at it's finest.

Funny...that comment was made at home too.

EOS M reminds me of how great a fast 35 is. It'll still be in my pocket in "challenging" locations.
 
Good one, David, congrats. Look forward to seeing how it works for you - I remember well some of your biogon 35 f/2 film shots, excellent images!
 
Excellent step David - I think you'll be really happy with the results and the user experience. Remember to shoot uncompressed DNG.

I got an M-E. It arrived today and I took some initial shots with my CV 28 1.9 and so far results are stellar!!!!! I also bought a ZM 50 planar today, too (shhhh, don't tell anyone!)
 
I'm truly jealous David. Have fun with it. I did during the year I owned the M9. Unfortunately, the M is not the best camera for my photography anymore.
 
Congratulations David and Katie. The M9 is already a classic. I have mine with me every day, and my day job is something else more than full time. I love the M9 colours. I never feel I should have had some other camera with me instead, which often happens when I use the X100, great though that is. I won't be getting the M. The Rolleiflex is the only other camera I'm serious about right now.
 
Congrats to both you David and Katie! I've been enjoying my M-E too and am very interested in how the two of you get along with the Zeiss lenses.

After using lots of other digital cameras in the three years since I had my M6 (and I think John--jsrockit--can attest), I'm amazed at how easily I slipped right back into my RF mindset. There was no "transition" to using quirky focus, handling, menus, etc. The M9 is "just a Leica." Feels good.

No more excuses...time to make some images.

And Duane...I had the same Zeiss 2/35 Biogon on my M6 (in silver, though). It was fantastic on film then, and it's fantastic on digital now.
 
Man, that looks like a life time combo right there. Biogon and M9... What else do you really need? It seems the M9 can go to 1600 pretty easily and at 2500 it looks cool in B&W (imperfect :)

I still lust for an M9; I remember the brochure shot in cuba with the boxers and I was floored by the images. Really great brochure. It made my father and I begin to scheme about how many beloved items we would have to sell to jointly purchase one...

I'll get a digital M one day. Just many days in the future.
