Rejoined the Canon family Canon 7

Sold my Canon 7 a couple of years ago and have been kicking myself ever since. Well today I won a Canon 7 on eBay. 😎

Meter is dead but I plan to see if I can bring it back to life or replace the selenium cell.

I bought one to use my 50 .95 lens and was pleasantly surprised at how well it felt in my hands. And the meter works and it takes great pics. I'm keeping it for my screw mount lenses--why not.

Just received mine yesterday from another RFF'er, thanks, Dan! I can't believe how smooth it is. This one has been modded--the meter removed, the holes filled in, and an accessory shoe added.

A question for 7 owners--is there supposed to be so much play in the advance lever after you've advanced and returned it? Or rather...there's no more play in it than on my M2...but it's looser. Not flopping around loose, just not very damped, compared to the Leica.

There's no play at all with my 7 or 7s. This may be easy to adjust. Try tightening the cover over the advance lever (with the spanner holes) a bit.

I like the Canon P - after Mark Hama gave it and the 50/18 lens a good CLA for very little money, the camera works great, whisper quiet and the results of the lens after the CLA were almost stellar. Badly under rated lens, that 50/1.8!

When I got my Leicas, I figured that I'd sell the Canons (actually, I had 2 and sold the first and gave it some more thought and kept the other) but for speed of load, reliability and "feel," it can't be beat. But it is matched by the Leicas, I have to say.

OK, thanks! I tried this, briefly, using a couple of corn tongs from the kitchen drawer, but couldn't budge it. I will wait until I can get my hands on a real spanner to try again.
