reload dng onto card to edit in camera?

Does anyone know if and how to get dng's back onto the memory card so the camera will recognise them?I can put the files back on the card and in the right folder easily enough, but the camera doesn't recognise them.

I'm using a Ricoh GR and dng's made by the same camera. I've found I much prefer adjusting levels, contrast etc and making a jpeg in camera, then I can avoid the computer altogether.

If the camera has some sort of internal database of metadata, you will probably have to create the corresponding entries. Not impossible with some programming skills - if you are lucky it is even stored as a plain text editable XML file - but probably not worth the time spent on it.
