Hi All

Does anyone have problem with the AE switch location? I shoot with my left-eye and pressing AE button is difficult for me. Has anyone try to relocate or re-wire the AE switch? What I really want is to use shutter release button as the AE switch..

thanks!

Hi All

Yes, I do. I generally use left eye as well and it does make it difficult. If I need to use it I tend to switch to right eye, at least for locking the exposure, then switch back to left for shooting.

As for moving it...

I would say impossible to combine with the shutter release as you would need a two stage release - first stage to lock the exposure and second stage to release. The mechanism just doesn't allow for that.

Best suggestion I could see would be to put another switch in parallel with the original in a better position. Where that is depends on you but I would have thought moving it a bit to the right so it falls more naturally under the thumb would work. There is space under the top plate in that position to put something.

But I'm not going to be drilling my top plate to add a new switch anytime soon so don't wait for instructions.

Right -- it would be difficult to add a two-stage release because it appears to be an electro-mechanical release.

But I can see what you mean about it being difficult to access the AE lock button with your left eye at the viewfinder.

Thanks everyone! To me... a camera is just a tool. I don't mind drill a hole or two if that works for me. Moving the switch to the right, near the thumb, is a good idea.
