Beaubourg, behind the scene...

sacré coeur, louvres, jardin albert kahn, luxembourg, le panthéon (you can go on top of it), la sainte chapelle, parc des buttes chaumont , les bassins de la vilette, musée de la vir romantique, tour eiffel, rue mouffetard , jardin des plantes are nice places to hang around :)

Wow... I have been to most of those places... And the one I liked the very best was Rue Mouffetard. That was long before my photographic days...

My dream: go back with my M3 system (Summicron 50mm and Elmar 90mm, both collapsible), and a bunch of color print film and Agfa APX. :)

Beware: there's legislation known as "le droit a l'image" that may not be favorable to photographers... Or at least, I read about it in P.net a long time ago.

"droit à l'image" is a kind of myth people refer cause they heard it on the radio :D

In case of trouble discuss with people; anyway we french can be quite rude so don't worry too much :D

We'll, true king... you're right. Immediately after posting I googled the term and came up with a lot of hogwash. Hence, ditch the notion and ask before tripping the shutter.

These are cases in which previous training of your hipshot technique comes in handy. ;)

Here are three from this past May. Sorry - all from a Rollei. I didn't seem to take very many shots in Paris with my Bessa.

Sometimes you get lost inside an image, forgetting for a moment exactly what it was that first grabbed you; is it the person, the colors (or lack of?), the contrast or texture; and then you try and regain it, searching slowly for that one particular element which screams at you.

Or not.

In which case you click on past to the next image, the ghost of its predecessor falling ever so delicately in a cascade of zeroes and ones.

Taken somewhere lost in Le Marais, with a Mamiya 6, a 50/4 and a roll of Ilford Delta 100.

My daughter and I went in June for four days. Besides the usual places (Eifel tower, Nortre Dame Cathedral, Louvre, etc), I'd recommend the Rodin Museum, the Shakespeare and Company bookstore, and the Luxembourg park.
