We received the following PR annoucement on a new Rental Darkoom in Irvine California. It made me wonder who else is offering Rental Darkrooms.
> Subject: Community Darkroom - City of Irvine, California
>
> Hi Folks,

> I am doing the ground work for the Irvine Fine Arts Center, to help notify photographers regarding the community darkroom. It is a well-equipped darkroom, and the last of it’s kind in all Southern California.
>
> We have 4 Bes 23CII and 6 Bes MX45, a few Omegas 4x5s. There is a private darkroom with an Omega 4x5.
>
> The use fees are $15 per day. Tues. and Thurs. 10am - 9pm. Sat. 9am - 4:30.
>
> We would love to make our darkroom known to the RF community. Thanks!

Here in Minnesota the Minneapolis Photo Center (www.mplsphotocenter.com) has both digital (scanners, computers) and wet darkroom facilities available to its members for $25/month ($15/month for students).
I visitied the center a month or so back to check it out and am considering joining for access to the nice Nikon film scanners they have. And who knows, I may print a negative or two in their wet darkroom. They also have studio and exhibition space available for rent.
They were hosting a very nice Vivian Maier exhibit when I visited.

Shooter of Film...
Sounds like a good deal to me and I have my own darkroom equipment including a Beseler 23C II with a colorhead...would love to have a go on the 4x5 enlargers...I always thought the prices would be so much higher...too bad it's not closer to where we live...

Before deciding to build my own darkroom I did some looking around. There are only two darkrooms available for use in Ottawa. One is for members of the local RA club, and after all membership fees use of the darkroom costs $200/year. It is limited to 11x14 enlargements (not sure on what negative formats).
The second is in Gatineau Quebec, across the river from Ottawa Ontario. http://studio.photoalex.ca/en/rental-darkroom I haven't used the darkroom, but I did get a chance to take a quick peak in it, and it does look pretty well stocked. If I ever get a chance to use a 4x5 and need to make enlargements, I'll hope this guy is still in business. But at $120/day, I'm going to need a fair amount of enlarging ready to go before book it.

In Covina, CA (depending on traffic, a little over an hour's drive east of the head bartender)
http://tri-communityphotoprogram.com/
Portrait studio, digital printing and B&W darkroom available to registered students. As you can probably imagine, there is great demand and sometimes the wait time can be long during peak times (after 5pm weekdays and Saturdays).

Another plug for Harvey Milk Center in SF. Very friendly environment and several different
memberships. But it is city funded so if you are a strident capitalist it may not be for you.

Edinburgh has the "Stills" photographic resource centre and Gallery in Cockburn Street off the Royal Mile. They have colour and black and white darkrooms, a film processing room (black and white chemicals only), a digital lab (with Hassy Flextight scanner) and large size printing facilities.

Another recommendation for 'Stills' in Edinburgh, a really excellent facility. i start a course there next week...my first attempt at processing and printing. i have used the digital lab previously.
