My S2 has major signs of wear on the aperture dial. It makes it fairly hard to read well so I was considering repainting it.

Before I decided to jump in, I figured asking if anyone on here had any experience with this. Maybe what type of paint to use etc.

I was thinking Tamiya model paints but maybe someone has a better idea for paint.

I'll post a pic soon to show the wear.

Thanks in advance!

i made an article in my blog on how I retouch these, can't post the link here sorry.

basically you will want to strip the old paint and then paint it with a lacquer base and then paint the details with enamel.:eek::eek:

I repainted a tick-mark nikkor with this technique. just make sure that your base coat is not too thick or else you will have trouble with the engraved bits because they are shallow.

cool, thanks

any paint suggestions?

also, I think the S2 used flat correct?

lacquer base - gunze
detail - tamiya enamel/gunze lacquer is also OK so long as you know what you are doing
lacquer coat - gunze

hahaha the :eek::eek: is my trademark in every message board. I use it so that I can easily see if somebody quoted me or if I said something.

going back to the repainting thing. I would like to learn about anodizing small parts like these

He's probably speaking about the shutter speed dials .
There are two a high and low speed , both black finish with white and salmon infill on a black dial camera
