I'm halfway through repainting a Pentax SV body. The bottom and lens mount plates were heavily brassed. I just finished the bottom plate using etching primer and Rust-Oleum semi-gloss black paint. It turned out fine. But now I'm wondering if I want to paint the lens mount plate, or leave it 'two-tone'. What do you think?

Paint it imo

Leave it brass. I know its too late but I think you should have left the body brassed the way it was. I think the brassing looks cool. Kinda like a patina of sorts just from years of use.
Now that I think about it, I have never seen one all brass completely stripped of paint. That would look interesting.

Nice! I didn't think about the chrome-on-black look.

Yes... but what color? How about yellow, for the bumble bee-look?

I like brassing as well. However on this camera it looked like a previous owner had taken a putty knife to the paint, trying to remove it. The brassing didn't have that well-lived life look; more like the fresh-out-of-the-blender look. :-o

Jamie- I think it'll look better all black, but that's just me.
(blender and all I probably would've left it as-is... but that's largely laziness on my part I have to admit.

Actually, I'm leaving the brassing on the corners of the top... they look fine.
