Okay, I know I've talked about it a lot, so here is a picture of my thrice-repaired Zorki 3 and it's Jupiter 8 with a new filter thread (courtesy of Kim Coxon) Camera was a VGA Sony MVC-73 digital (ewww) with two spotlights and a curved background. Not pictured: Smoooth Suede-lined KMZ branded case with rear compartment.
Repairs:
Cleaned & Realigned Rangefinder
CLA of slowspeed govenor & winding mechanism
Readjustment of curtain tension springs
Tightened Strap lug
Readjusted Slow speed settings
Jupiter 8:
Relubed Aperture Ring
Replaced dinted filter thread with a newer ring from Kim Coxon (New thread has '59 serial, lens is from '55)
Conclusion:
Smooth winding, easy-to-use 1:1 viewfinder, and slow speeds that are easier to set than on my Zorki 4k. Great Camera.

hey, they're only Zorkis
badda-bing! Very nice. Whew! I got winded just reading your list there. Congrats on a job well done.
I know you'll enjoy it. I'm putting together a travel case with room for 5 cameras w/lenses + 3 other lenses + stuff. Cameras will include Leica.III x 2, Zorki.1 x 2, and, of course, the Zorki.3.

Thanks! It was not always fun, but the outcome is
Any comments on the shot of the camera? I'm working on my controlled lighting techniques...

You've diffused the shadows really well on the shot, but you need to try to get brighter without shadowing to get rid of that tint to the background. Means more lights, more angles - its awful to try and control, I usually end up photoshopping it. lol.

very tempted to have oleg send the camera over to china so i can use it straight away. had a play with a few zorkis 1s today, the smooth film knob and velvety shutters are addictive.

A '54 Zorki ? I see you like to use newer equipment. I'll bet the lenses are even coated.

I think I need to make some softboxes for lighting, because right now the lighting is so direct that it is very hard to avoid hard reflections. Maybe I'll tweak it some more in GIMP...

Yeah, the shot of the Three looks good to me. Sweet looking unit. I see yours still has the "foot" attached... good for you. Some of those get dismembered along the way. Mine is '52 model (Zorki.3 link in my sig) and also has a slow speed dial "lock" which in fact isn't a lock at all, but rather a spring loaded gizmo that clicks into each speed. I've got a bunch of cameras I could do without, but the Zorki.3 ain't one of them.
Man, don't know if I could have a camera shipped anywhere but right to my greedy, sweaty hands. You must have great patience... a good trait for FSU.RFers

Thanks for the comment on the shot. Yes, I'm very happy havnig that foot on there... but I did need to tighten a screw on it (almost coming out!) I'm not sure about the "lock" that you describe but the slow speed dial on mine clicks each speed into place. Out of all my rangefinders, this one is most certainly my favorite. I was lucky enough to find someone within a 45 minute drive with this one, so I knew that it had bad slow speeds before I got it. The "Time" exposure setting was sort of handy for servicing, but I think it was also so you could do a long exposure (very carefully) if you did not have the benefit of a cable release on hand.
