Repairing a pre-war Contax

I just purchased a complete pre-war Contax II on eBay that is in need of repair. Does anybody know of a source for new shutter tape material and are there any online sites that give info on repairing this camera?

I already know how to access the shutter assembly since this camera is simular to the early Kiev's which I have repaired in the past..

Also...will my J-3, J-8, J-9, and J-12 work fine with this camera? I know they will mount but what about proper focus??

Your existing lenses should focus properly on the Contax II. I have used a J-9, J-8 and J-3 on my Contax II in the past, no problems.

Rick Olsen just emailed me to let me know my spare Kiev shutter assembly is a perfect drop in so I'll go that route.

I also just picked up another Contax for parts with a 3.5cm f/2.8 Biogon for $30 with shipping..

Oleg Khalyavin, a premium repairman, seems to have shutter ribbon in stock, His site mentions a $30 minumum order, but he is also on the other side of the planet, so $3o minum seems reasonable.

Fedka, also a premium repairman in my experience, and on the East Coast, also has shutter ribbon.

The Kiev Survival Site is always helpful, and it looks like you've already been to it..

My original intention was to replace the shutter tapes but Rick Olsen told me my spare Kiev shutter assembly was a drop in.. So I'll be going that route..
