anyone know how to open the Drug's top plate? I just received mine and i can't see the rangefinder patch, there's a loud rattling inside, viewing from the front the rangefinder window is just black inside.
Also, the back door keep popping open. anyone has a fix for this?

I got to borrow a broken Drug a few years ago to take a peek inside.
I don't remember how I removed the top cover, but i don't remember it being complicated either. Maybe this picture is of some help:
By your description one could think that the small prism behind the rangefinder window has been dislodged?
The back door lock should be a simple design. Most problems should be self-evident and solvable by cleaning, lubricating and sometimes bending.

I manage to open the front rangefinder cover and take a peek inside. The small prism is definitely came loose and move around the place :bang:
As for the back door, the locking mechanism seems working just fine, but somehow if I press the shutter while my thumb pressing the cover it pops open. Also the top hinge of the cover came off from its place. The bottom hinge stay attached

Maybe the camera has been dropped, either the body or the back door is bent, so the lock stays closed under too high tension?

I don't think that's the problem. The lock mechanism works fine, but when the back door pushed, the lock move a little. I've tried to bend the back door a bit but don't work.

Very intereresting. The camera in my picture has stationary prisms and RF image is shifted by moving one of the lenses between the prisms. Your camera has the more traditional pivoting prism. What's missing from your pictures is the two small ball bearings that hold the prism assembly between the camera chassis and the spring clamp. You can use the rangefinder of a Zorki 4 as a design reference there.
The (broken?) spring on your picture is supposed to keep the arm of the prism assembly in contact with the curved cam at the chassis.

Actually, there's two small ball bearing jumping off when I open the top, I just didn't think it was part of the rangefinder...
I'll open my zorki 3m tommorow (I assume it's the same as zorki 4's rangefinder)
I hope I can fix it this time....

Zorki 3m may actually have older design, without the ball bearings. I think pictures in this thread explain the placement of prism well enough, no need to dissect the zorki:

It looks good to me. If it works, adjust it, and go use it. All the adjustment points are the same as in the Zorki-4, except maybe for close focus adjustment. My camera had a a rollered rangefinder arm in the lens mount, I thought i'll find the adjustment point in it's "shoulder" like in Leica, but that wasn't the case.

t6un thank you for all of your help!
Need to wait for the spanner wrench to adjust the vertical alignment
