Who is still doing good work on film cameras in Canada? The only threads I could find on the subject were over 10 years old, and many of the listed technicians are no longer around.
I used to send everything to the late Roger Burrough at Camtech in Hamilton, Ontario, before he sadly passed away a few years ago. He was a mechanical genius, and was willing to tackle anything I threw at him. My M3 has never run as smoothly as it does since he had it!

We are at the stage then it is easier to say who is still around. Last time I talk with Bodo son Alex, he told me here was some known person in Toronto.
Bodo is not with us anymore and Gerry was going to quit in 2018.

Timely thread.
I have a Olympus lens that is perfect apart from having a bent filter ring. Can anyone recommend a shop in the Toronto-ish area?

I can heartily recommend René Genest of Service Camera pro here in Quebec City for all mechanical film cameras, Leica, Hasselblad and Rollei in particular. He has been servicing my cameras for years, if not decades, and it is heartwarming to see his smile when you walk in his store with one of those oldies.

If it's Leica film cameras, you can try: LightPro Group in Mississauga.
From their website:
Kindermann Canada Inc.

"After almost 30 years in Markham ON, most recently at 351 Steelcase Road, both companies have made the move to Mississauga, to co-locate with the LightPro Group Inc. LightPro Group Inc. is located at 3206 Wharton Way, west of the 427 off Dundas Street East.
Kindermann Canada was associated with the brand of Leica Camera for a great many years. It remains synonymous to this day because of our Leica service staff. Gerry Smith is one of the few remaining Leica classical technicians. His reputation is quite well earned with thousands of very satisfied customers. You can contact him directly through our office between 10 and 5, Monday to Thursday if you have questions about a repair. You can also write directly at service@lightprogroup.com. If you wish to meet with Gerry we ask that you make an appointment with him. Gerry is not on the premises every day. You can reach Gerry most easily by phone at 905-940-9262. Select Service from the voice menu.
Please call us before sending your equipment to us for evaluation. When you send an item to us, please put a note with it that contains your complete address information, email, and a daytime telephone number; along with a brief explanation of the issue. We will contact you and explain the work being recommended before attempting a repair.
For other repairs on Bowens, Linhof, Rollei, Silvestri Cameras, and SIRUI tripods and heads, please contact Mike Boylan or email: service@lightprogroup.com"
For those thinking about inquiring about digital related repairs, or lenses used on digital Leica cameras, I got this reply from them:
"Unfortunately, we can't really help you with this. We do rangefinder and lens adjustment to the standard permitted by the analogue rigs for the M film cameras. Things are adjusted to the specified tolerances mechanically and visually. When you get into fine tuning the focus to the extent digital users expect, it requires the aid of computerized analysis, and machining to adjust to such a fine focus tolerance. We are just not equipped to do this."
For my inquiry, they suggested dealing directly with Leica NJ...

not sure if he's still around, used him 2-3 years ago to service 3 Rolleiflexes but he also works on older Leicas (pre M6)

I've used Kindermann to repair my M6 couple of years ago as well and they did a great job.
