for 4 years, I have carried my X100(orig,s,t) in a camera wrap, affectionately called the "Camera Burrito" by my daughter.
this is great for tossing in the backpack, but a little awkward to quickly access.
I'm looking for a easy open neoprene or padded case with room for the x100 + shade.
Any suggestions ?

I have a LowePro Terraclime 50 which holds the X100 with shade, a SD card, a battery and that's it. It has a strap and a belt loop. But I believe they are not made anymore...
When I remember correctly the Manfrotto Nano VII would also hold the X100 with shade although it will bulge a bit because of the hood.

I use a similar thing for my Leica (made by domke). Just wondering, do you unfold it completely every time you take the camera out? I fold it so that I can take the camera out by opening one flap. It is pretty quick and easy. Also, I don't really see the need for the second layer that you have going. The "burrito" seems to protect it well enough.
..on second thought, it looks like you might have a slightly smaller sized one.
In any case, I sprung for the fuji leather case for my X100. You can't use the hood with it, but you can fit the camera with the filter ring still attached. I actually don't use the hood, just use the ring as a mini-hood and never really have flare issues.

As Travis said above; the Zing Accessory Pouch will hold many of the compact cameras. I used it for years with the Hexar AF and then for the X100. It may not fit with the hood on the X100, though.

Whatever
Does it need to hold the camera with the hood attached? If you can live without that little addition, the Fujifilm case for the X100 is pretty nice. I just picked up a used brown one (with a matching strap included) from B&H for my X100T, and it is really nice. It has an access door on the bottom for replacing the card and battery, and it will accommodate the camera with its lens cap. Unfortunately it won't work with the hood attached, but as I say, if you're willing to sacrifice that feature, it's a very nice case.

That's what ever-ready cases were meant for - and let's not hear the old "never-ready" moan again. Almost every image I've ever seen of Robert Capa showed him using ERCs, even with Rolleis - and often that was in a combat situation. The ERC that Fuji supplies for the X100 series is a fine piece of work and fits beautifully. The front part can be whipped off in a second or two and stowed. That's a lot faster than unwrapping a "burrito." And you can chuck it on the floor of the car or into or into a bag of "stuff" with no worries at all. The only flaw with the Fuji ERC has been pointed out - you can't stow the camera with the lens hood on. This is the only mis-design Fuji ever made with its accessories in my view. Cheers TW

Totally unsexy as it is the Lowepro Edit 110 works very well for me.
Cheap
Padded
Neck strap
Choice of full zip closure or velcro tab for quick access
Fits x100 with lens hood
3 little pockets for battery, filters, etc.
Of course there is no "Cool" factor.
Cheers,
Wim
