Replaced POD, still yellow light.

Hi fellow Yashicans!

I recently bought a GSN on Ebay.

On arrival, the shutter only fired a 1/500th and when depressing the shutter, the yellow light lit up, regardsless of light conditions etc. And there was no "clunk".

New battery and new POD. The POD seemed replaced, byt perhaps the thickness was not correct?

Well, the POD is replaced with plumber washer of 2 mm thickness.

Now I¨ve only got B for Bulb time regardsless of setting and still yellow light on, but the correct "clunk" is there.

Any ideas? Has anyone needed a thicker POD than 2 mm.

This may sound like an idiotic question..are you adjusting your f stop ring in the direction the lights indicate? You speak knowledgably enough I hated to ask but I hadda ask...yeah I hadda. Sorry.

Yes, I change the f-stop ring without any difference, I also change ASA-setting.

And all I get i Bulb-times from the shutter, no timed shutter speed.

I think the POD thickness is quite important. Also, I think the light comes on, even if the camera is working properly, as the shutter release passes the contact points in the meter circuit. When the shutter is depressed about half way, the lights go out if the exposure is within the camera's limits, or one of the lights stays on if not. I think you were ok with the first POD?

Hm. With the first POD, the yellow light stayed on when the shutter was depressed and the shutter fired only at 1/500th regardsless of f-stop setting and light.

Furthermore, the part of the shutter mechanism that is supposed to stay down after fireing, returning up when cocking the shutter again, didn't. That is, it returned right after fireing.

When the next POD, it stayed down and return with the correct "clunk" when cocking.

But I only get Bulb function from the shutter, regardless settings, including the ring at the front of the lens (marked "B", "Auto" and flash-symbol).

sounds like the pod is correct now, but maybe there is a disconnected wire somewhere else in the works - meter, for instance. So the camera thinks there is no light?

That could be it. I replaced the POD with just lifting the top plate, but now it sounds that I need to strip more....
