I have the Excell S625PX battery in mine. I got it from Amazon.
My CL has a good meter but since the voltage is different from the original mercury batteries, I need to adjust the ASA to compensate. Just need to find time to do some side-by-side with my DSLRs....

C.R.I.S. MR-9 battery adapter. Not cheap but gives the proper voltage with silver oxide batteries and fits in the compartment.
I prefer the silver oxides to the Wein cell solution

Agreed. Keep in mind that some silver oxide batteries are too deep and will not fit in certain battery chambers. Make sure that the battery is a 386 and it will be the right depth/thickness.
The Pratedthai adapter on eBay, which is very similar, is also worth consideration. I have this and a CRIS, and both work well.

Another low-budget workaround I found is to get an A76/S76 to 625 adapter from "Nobby Sparrow" on ebay. He calls them MR-9 adapters. Then, get a run-down A76 which is reading something like 1.4 volts left in it and you're very close. The adapters cost $9 each and run-down A76 are very cheap indeed if you've got some left-overs...

There is also Frans de Gruijter adapter, very well made by hand and 5 years warranty.
You then use a current, easy to find, long lasting EPX76 silver-oxide battery,
which, as the original PX625, have a steady discharge curve.

These adapters make a silver-oxide battery (1.55v) or zinc-air hearing aid battery (1.4v) fit the battery compartment space of an old mercury cell, but they do not adjust voltage.
You can buy zinc-air hearing aid batteries, that are inexpensive but short-lived, to fit in these adapters. This is effectively what you get with the much more expensive Wein cell, which is a hearing aid battery inside a larger shell to fit the camera's battery compartment. The 1.4v of these cells is close enough to the 1.35v of the original mercury cell to allow accurate metering.
I also use this kind of adapter with a 1.55v silver-oxide cell for a camera that, when CLA'd, was adjusted for a battery of 1.5v instead of the original 1.35. The camera had been adjusted in this way to take a 1.5v alkaline cell, which doesn't provide a steady current, so the adapter to hold a silver-oxide cell is much better in my opinion.

Some MR-9 will not let pass much current (because they use a different diode) and are not good for certain cameras.
