Replacing M6 framemask with M2 type

here you can see how big the differences are.
the first row are regular M6 framelines and the second row are the MP-3 framelines.

Just did something similar, Johnny 🙂; on tripod from our patio.

50mm framelines.

Top is M6 (classic) with 75 lines removed by Don.

Bottom is M2. Maybe not 3% (Only Ernst himself knows why), but not "huge" either 🙂

Look how close the M6 frameline outside to the M2 frameline inside is.

Maybe we can at least agree that the 35mm framelines are not too different ?

Cheers,

Roland.

Roland, that was what I was going to say: the difference is most striking for the 50 mm framelines, a FL I love.

Horea,

I thought, for completeness, I would also show how the above M2/M6 frameline comparison would compare to the same scene on film:

Wow! I had no idea the difference in film and framelines was that great with the M6. I suppose this is focused at close to infinity though, so it would be much closer for something at 1-2 meters.

it looks pretty much like infinity. in fact infinity starts at about 50-100 meters with a 50mm lens.
i once tested the mp-3 frame lines (the ones compared above) and they were the exact inner frame line at 0.7m, the outer frame line at about 1.5-2m and about 3-4 more frameline-borders at infinity.
of course with these "accurate" frame lines there will be some cropping when mounted to a slide or not "full frame" printed and shooting at near distances.
