Other than for their excellent reputation, I know nothing about the SONY E Series. I plan to purchase a E-Mount to M42 lens adapter for my grandson. He’s interested in manual lenses. I have a set of Mamiya-Sekor manual lens – 28/2.8, 35/2.5, 50/2 and a 1970 Sears 135/2.2 (made in Japan, allegedly by Mamiya-Sekor).

Please share your adapter experience or just reply with a brand.

I must have at least a half-dozen Chinese-made adapters from different makers, and aside from one which was clearly out of spec, results have been good, even in the lower price ranges. I mostly chose based on what was available via USA eBay sellers, because that meant getting the part in ~3 days versus 3 weeks for shipments from China. Internal blackening is often rather glossy, but this can be remedied with a bit of hobby paint.

Metabones would be my gold standard for lens adapters, but they don't offer M42-E.

Have not tried Neewer lens adapters, but have been pretty satisfied with other Neewer products:
