Resilver rangefinder mirrors?

I cringed when I read about the steel wool. I'd like to be able to read some testimonials before trying the steel wool on my own camera.

Coming from someone who replaced the Pentaprism in his Retina Reflex S with one from a Minolta XG-9, I'm tempted to give it a try!

I'm going to try it ... just bought a kit. 🙂

Well, now I really hope it works for you - I feel responsible for having brought it up! Anyway, you'll have to let us know how it goes!

Hey, not to be a snot here or anything, but isn't that just that mirror reflecting stuff for patio windows? I actually thought of that back when I thought I was going to have to replace a partly unsilvered one.

$5 and change for a q-tip, steel wool, and a square of that stuff. Hey, I'm in the wrong business. 🙂

Good question, Denise.

Only one way to find out.

I'm the guy who 'brassed' a camera when I found out that brassed ones can go for a better price.

Took me a whole afternoon with the stuff that mechanics use when they fit inlet and outlet valves to motor engines!

Valve grinding compound?

No. 7 auto polishing compound will remove the old coating better and with less risk.
I've bought from the guy before. He is a camera rebuild nut.🙂

Hey Dave, is this stuff film that goes on top of the glass? If so, does the rangefinder have to be readjusted to compensate for the thickness of the film?
