I want to re-skin a IV (IV Sb2). Has anyone done this? Does the flash rail need to be removed? Can the flash rail be left off?

I just re-skinned my "7" with Griptac from CameraLeather.com. The stuff is fantastic. There is all the difference in the world between the Griptac and the original skin. I now want to re-skin the IV Sb2. I'll also do two of my F1N AE SLR bodies.

The IV Sb2 has a small depression on the top and a couple of bright marks. I am not concerned with the collector's value of the camera. One of my F1N SLRs is badly beaten up, the other more brass than paint. I'll be leaving my mint F1N, mint 7s, very nice IV, Kodak Retina IIa, and Zeiss SI A as original

The flash rail does have to come off, the skin goes under it. It's as easy as it looks, remove the four screws. The contact button is sprung, don't lose any parts!

Slow speed dial also has to come off.

nope, just use lighter fluid mixed with hand sanitizer gel. The original covering is a vinyl impregnated cloth, peels off real easy. put the new cover on by starting at the lens flange at one side and work your way all the way round.
