Probably related to everyone's being busy during the holiday season, but I've noticed that responses in the gallery have fallen off substantially. It seems only a small number of us are currently commenting on images.

I hope participation will increase when things settle into the New Year. It's a real boost to the photographers who post images to get responses and, as always, there's some great work there.

Starting next week, I'll try to revive the 'Fav pics over the past 7 days' threads. What's a good day for this? Sunday? Monday?

Gene

Thanks Gene for the initiative.

I actually have been feeling guilty for not commenting as much as I was, yes due to a changing schedule and being busy. I still pop in to see the posts, but have not taken the time to add comments. I actually am backed up in my scanning too.

Monday, Sunday, I don't think it matters. When we see the "Favs" thread it will draw attention to the work posted in the gallery.

Yep, I tried to have some days on each month 'reserved' to view and comment the latest work. Unfortunately some unexpected events ended with part of my time and I'm a bit late on everything lately.

Hope to recover it on next weeks. Thanks for the mental note Gene.

I resolve to be better about this, and indeed it's as much a benefit for the commenter as the photographer because it calls for some close observation and thinking, and that's good for ya!

I just got busy, and the number of gallery submissions has really grown too... I haven't even posted any pics myself for some months.

Question about the gallery...

I've noticed that I no longer can post technical information about the shots I upload but I've seen that info in some recent posts of other members ?

Is there any hidden option that I'm missing ?

TIA

Doug - Good point that writing comments on the photos of others can help us in our own work. Now, I gotta get to the gallery and do some writin'.

oscar,
i don't know the answer to your question.
i have not uploaded a photo in too a long a time to know if something has changed.
need to shoot more.

Found it !

To anybody having this problem, if you upload a photo to one of your personal galleries, even if they are public, you won't have the technical info fields.

So, if you want a picture with them, upload them to one of the main public galleries and then add your personal gallery as the secondary one.

And that's all, but isn't it nice to know why things happen ? :)

The one time I was able to access the gallery, it wouldn't let me respond, and wouldn't recognize my name or password. I figured this was one way of Joe's, to shut me up...

oscar, what do you mean by personal gallery?

joe

If you go to your gallery and then to Album admin, you can create your own sub-galleries (albums in fact).

It's by directly uploading a photo to these albums that you won't have the option to add the extra technical fields to the image.

So it's albums, not galleries.

There are also no tech fields if you try to post an image directly to a theme gallery. A real pain ...

i have sent an e mail to jorge.

i have been getting a number of concerns voiced by members lately.

thanks oscar, i thought you meant albums but wanted to be sure.
