Hi,
JSU, please see other thread about this, i´d tryed to explain my experience on this job.
Hi Jarski, thanks, in russian cams removing chrome is very easy, use chloridric acid, will evaporate plating in a blink of an eye, really! I first tested on a fed!
But with leicas removing chrome is a pain, the quality of plating is hardly seen! So when put into acid bath you have to be very carefull and forsee it in every moment, i observed galvanic corrosion (don´t know if it´s named the same in english) the problem is that acid will act on both sides of chrome one in the exterior and on the interior side the one that bonds to the brass, in that spot it will act against brass also.
The zorkikat procedure is more refined, and better fit for leicas than zorkis (with all do respect).
Cheers
