Anyone going to the Daily Show/Colbert Report rallies in DC on the 30th? I wasn't planning to, but I got surprise dispensation from my wife, when she heard that another friend of ours wanted to go.

Anyone else going?

I'm going. Working on getting the proper credentials right now, which unfortunately means I'll be shooting with my Nikon DSLR.

I'm hoping to go, but it'll be a 15 hour road trip one way; another 15 hour return trip so I can be at work on Monday. Sounds like fun!

I'm going. Shooting my last roll of Kodachrome and lots of B&W w/ Leica R and Hasselblad.

I'm going to be there the Friday thru Monday morning. I plan to visit some of the obvious sites but since I don't know DC very well I'd love to hear some recommendations on things to do/see while there.

Nice to have as a keep sake if nothing else. Might interview people for the paper I work with to give some credence for being down there. Also there's usually a blocked off spot to shoot speakers from; I'd like to get a couple of good shots of Colbert or Stewart for the paper again.

Knowing DC you won't need any credentials to get good street shots. There are suppose to be a couple hundred thousand people there, so finding an interesting character or two around the reflecting pool or on the steps of Lincoln shouldn't be a problem...

Be sure & tell Jon Stewart to make sure everyone throws away the trash this time, They left the 10-2-10 rally looking like a garbage dump. No since in that. You guys have a safe trip & have fun.

im trying to go, coming up with a ride is proving to be hard. the buses that they are trying to run isant filling up in rochester, so thats not an option.

i doubt anyone on here is close enough to me or within a few hours of driving for me to take another rider down

Harry, I'm expecting this to be well-documented by you for those who can't make it.

Will do. I'm going to take:

M6 with 35mm Summicron IV
M8 with 50mm Summilux II
X1
Lots of film. I have a bunch of Tri-X and Reala hanging out.

Taking an overnight train from Boston Friday night, get in to DC early Saturday, go to the rally, take train out of DC Saturday night to get back to MA early Sunday, so that I can collapse and sleep before I have to take the kids trick or treating.

My wife and I were already planning on going to DC before the rallies were announced. I'm on the fence whether or not I'm going to go. It should be interesting, but I'm not sure that I want to hang around tons of people. Although, if we want to go to any of the museums that day, it'll be inevitable that we'll see something of it.

I'll be bringing my Bessa R4M and Rolleiflex with me, and whatever photos I take will be all or nearly all in B&W.

I think my missus and I are going by bus from Morristown, NJ. I offered a choice between going to Lorelei's to meet up some our RFF acquaintances for the monthly meet up or joining the thronging masses for a political/apolitical rally. Smart person she is, she said that I'd have better photo ops in the crowd than in the bar. If we make it there, I'm going to stick a camera in her hands and make her join in the fun.

Apparently, the organizers have arranged charters from many places.

Check out this link for info on buses...

Harry, if you're looking for me, I'll be the guy with a camera.

Yes, it appears that I will indeed be going, as it was mentioned by my wife that we're definitely going! So that takes care of that. Regardless, I suppose that I'll get to see what the rally looks like through the lens of a tlr ( and a Bessa ).
