Heliopan has several filters that cut different amounts of IR ..any chance of getting the heliopan part number ? The 2 that I have are labeled Heliopan Digital Filter ..per the German website this one cuts some of the IR spectrum but not all .

Are you sure you don't mean 2025 ?

Thanks for the item number...seems like the price list uses 8025 and calls it a Specialised Filter for Digital. The Product Description on heliopan.de shows it as 8125 ...nice chart showing how the spectrum is affected . They make another filter for Video that seems to be stronger in blocking the IR . B&H has these listed but all special order or out of stock.

Heliopan advises to order filters HERE
I have a suspicion that is the best chance of finding the stock.
2025 filters are UV block.
8125 is not mentioned in the pricelist, but 8025 is. I suspect those are the same or very similar. The cutoff curve shows a steep cutoff at 720Nm.If you look at the curve for the video filter it shows a far less steep curve. I think it might be less effective.

Since your file said the color profile was "Uncalibrated", I assumed you had your camera's setting to use AdobeRGB. I applied that profile, removed the magenta from magenta using "Selective Colors" and added 100% Black to it. Then I applied the M8 color profile that's been made available at the Leica User's Group, and ta-da! I converted to sRGB prior to posting here, so that there are no ::ahem:: calibration issues.
Would you mind posting a little more of a description for Photoshop Dummies about how you did this? I'm using the profile Jamie posted at the Leica Forum, with good result. But, the result you seem to have acheived with post processing is REALLY good.

Here are comparison charts of the two most popular IR cut filters.

rvaubel said:Heliopan filters are at the top of the heap when it comes to filters. However their IR filter cuts IR at a longer wavelength than the B+W. That may be a good thing or a bad thing. The advantage of cutting at a longer wavelength is less of the cyan "vignetting" affect on the super wide angle lenses. the bad side is they will be less effective at getting rid of the purple/ black problem
But only experimentation will tell which is best. BTW the Tiffens appear to be weaker than either the Helios or the B+Ws

The Heliopan 8025 filter has its 50% transmission point at about 675nm, and less than 5% transmission at 700nm, so it should work quite well; very little IR will pass.
I'm ordering some. Note that more sizes are available from Heliopan and the prices are lower generally as well, compared with B+W. Photo Mayr seems quite responsive, and promptly answered (in English, even though my German is good enough to get by and I enquired in German).
I e-mailed: info@fotofilterversand.de
