Retina IIa

Must be the day for Retinas....

I'd read that having an old Retina serviced was a good idea, even if it was not currently giving you trouble. The theory was that certain parts were prone to failure if not cla'd.
I'd like to have mine done...maybe get the rangefinder in better shape. But, I'm afraid to send it to anyone. I don't want to send it to Australia. Any recommendations for US service?

I'm unwilling to take apart the Yashica GS I bought for $18. I'm not going to trust my Father-in-law's (I inherited) Retina to my tender attention.
My wife would kill me the moment I got near it with a screwdriver...and she'd be justified.

Essex in New Jersey has always taken good care of my cameras. I have never seen a cosmetic defect "appear" during a trip to them. They rebuilt my Reflex IV, so a IIa is a POC.

I've got email out to a couple of people who I'm told might do it.

Just mail your camera with the check for $78. Enclose a decriptive letter of any problems other than standard CLA, and clear return address. I have NEVER had them come back and ask for more money after pre-paying from the online estimator.
