Retina IIIc first roll - Great Camera!

Hi Rf users!
After a long waiting I was lucky and won a nice IIIc on the 'bay....
The camera is in good conditions and worked flawless. I used a roll of Ilford Delta 100 Professional for the test and souped it in Ars-Imago Fd developer with very nice results!

Very nice! How is the meter? My IIIc reads so close to a Sekonic 308, I don't even bother to take a hand held with me.

Some really good photos there, showing what can be done with the Retina IIIc. I started with the IIIC that I got in a box of camera stuff, and have been working my way down-line ever since. They are great pocket cameras, and really, who needs to shoot everything with a 35mm? The 50, a hood, and maybe a filter is all one needs with this beauty.

The meter seems to be a bit underexposing. I gave an half stop more to be safe. In more difficult shots I metered with my Android app in spot mode.
Anyway... the on board meter seems enough for 90% of shots... 😉

Yep.... we can do almost everything with this camera and the 50mm. Btw... I like the 35mm but (in this case) we would lost the compactness and ease of use of these great folding cameras.... 🙂

The IIIc was my first good camera. It was a Christmas gift in 1954. I still have it and still use it on occasion. The 50 mm lens is one of the best I have ever used

One caveat — Don't bother with the auxiliary lenses. For one thing they are slow, for another they are not coupled to the rangefinder. Also,you must to remove them to close the camera.

I just noticed that it is a Heligon lens. That means that the camera was sold in Europe; the Xenon lens was sold in the US. If you do want either the 35 or 80 auxiliary lens be careful to get the Heligon version. The Heligon and Xenon lens are not compatible. In fact the mounts are different.

Yep! You're right.... but I really don't mind to get auxiliary lenses for my Retina, as with these I'd lose the compactness and ease of use of this great folding camera.... 🙂
