What happens to all of these M8s that are being retrurned ?

Do the dealers just call the next person one the list and give them an opened box ?

Do the go back to Leica ?

If anyone knows please respond.

That's my question too. Can you return Leica M8 and get a full refund?
I know the law does not allow the opened merchandise to be resold as new.

My dealer has already said he'll have no lack of buyers in case I elect not to accept delivery from UPS tomorrow.

He was unaware of the M8's IR problem until I brought it up.

I'll talk to him again tomorrow before I decide to "be home" when the UPS truck arrives.

Jeepers. I never thought I'd see so many fair-weather Leica fans.

How ironic is that I was the only person (that I know of) who sent shockwaves through the pent up, drooling masses around the forums when I uttered some reservations about the M8 prior to its release -- and now I am a relatively happy owner in no hurry to send mine anywhere?

I say, everyone take a deep breath, and why not give Leica some time to figure these complaints out? I honestly believe that they are not going to abandon their early adopters.

I appreciated your posts from "the Early Days" of M8 user experience, so thanks for that... even if you did not shoot directly into light bulbs(to draw out the banding), nor shoot black/dark synthetic textile blends in IR intensive lighting: I, as many, sought some sort of comfort that Leica even delivered an "ur-M-like" DRF, and you kept us in the loop--loup?--with this progress. Shutter noise and slippery skin hasn't got me half as worried as that familiar "grip" the film advance provided my thumb ;)

Your reservations aside, shots since posted of subjects other than light bulbs and black velvet have been, as Sean nailed it, deftly drawn. Hope you're having fun making pictures whilst others wait, and wait, and post about waiting.

rgds,
Dave
