The Minolta Uniomat III was the third in the Uniomat series. The Uniomat was an early point and shoot camera aimed at the novice photographer that had a unique exposure system that relied entirely on EV numbers. Using a "match needle" visible on the top plate, it required no knowledge of aperture or shutter speeds to work.

The camera also featured a unique Seiko shutter in which there was no aperture iris. The shutter blades themselves would only open so far as to let the correct amount of light in. If the camera required an aperture of f/11, the shutter would only open that far. Doing this had the side affect of increasing the top shutter speed to 1/1000 sec which was faster than the 1/500 top speed for most leaf shutters of the day.

The Uniomat was sold within North America as the ANSCO Asncoset.
