Just posted a review of the Crumpler Sinking Barge backpack on Photo.net.

I am really stoked about this pack. It is the first hybrid (camera and daily "stuff") backpack that I have ever had that actually works well. It gets daily use.

Just thought some of the "carry my camera everywhere" crew might be interested.

Crumpler Backpack Review

I don't mean to step on somebody's thread, but I just **made** a pack like this, from a travel pack that I had around. I can get four lenses (one mounted on the camera) and a R-D1 in it, with space for notebooks, pens, business cards, a computer, miscellaneous camera bits, a cell-phone pocket, and three other pockets, one of them quite sizable, for not too much money. Of course, I'd need a sherpa to carry it with all that stuff, but it could be done. The idea being, that if you're going to Europe, you jam it full for the plane trip, and then empty it out for walking around town with the camera. If somebody would be good enough to tell me how to post photos here (or can tell me where, written in English, as opposed to computerese, the instructions are) I would post a couple of pictures. I don't mean to brag, but mine (blush) is better than Crumpler's. Also less visible.

No woprries about stepping on the thread John. I'm fully in support of DIY (do it yourself) solutions. They are very often cheaper and better than commercial available products.

Joe,

Two reviews are upcoming. The R-D1 one is holding while I try to get some information about the R-D1s out of Epson (a futile effort). The RF camera bag one will be done sometime next week (I hope).
