I thought that, some of you might be interested in the review of M9. The drawback is that it's in Polish, so you need to translate (with google?). However this review should appear soon on lenstip.com in English

Despite this problem you can still have a look on MTF charts etc (in English), which compare M9 to D3X, 1ds and A900. The tests were done with 50/2.

Plus there are some samples compared with those three cameras.

If someone was interested in some particular aspect of the review and google transalte wasn't up to the job, let me know.

A good, pretty balanced review, I thought. Kinda smiled at his reference to the "tens of thousands of existing M8 users." With less than 20,000 sold, Leica can only wish. :)

A useful ISO 1250 is certainly a good thing, as well. Noise above ISO 640 has been a long time complaint about the M8. Images look like the ones from the M8 with more pixels is also an interesting description of the output.

Hah! I had a bet it would resolve more detail than a D3x... The bet was $8000... I wonder if he'll pay up? (I'm betting he won't).

I wonder how many of Leica's initial sales will be first timers and not previous or current M8 owners ... to all purposes this appears to be a very good and well sorted camera. Part of the bittersweet irony of owning an M8 is knowing that you have a camera that nearly made it to the big time but not quite, so the incentive to get the M9 is overpowering for a lot of M8 users I would imagine.

I think Leica knew damned well that there's a lot of very frustrated M8 owners out there who will jump all over this M9 immediately at $7000.00 ... when that well has dried up the price will rise by at least $1000.00 IMO!

Mount an R mount Summicron on the D3x and repeat the test! Now that would be an interesting test. :)

Really, though, this is only a lens resolution test.
