The reviews on www.rogerandfrances.com (in the photoschool section) are now free instead of paid-for. I did this in response to an observation elsewhere in RFF that The Rangefinder Book (GMC, 2003) missed 'several important models' -- mostly, I have to say, because they hadn't come out when it was written...

As well as the M8 and the ZI system, there's the SEI Photometer and the Exakta Varex IIa. In future, 'First Look' (so far, 1,5/50 C-Sonnar and the new Summarits) will be integrated with Reviews and also Microtests (another separate, free heading). Microtests are very brief reviews of small bits of kit that my wife and I have found useful, such as Paterson water filters, Artist and Artisan straps and PrintFile neg files.

I'm currently working on several more free reviews and Microtests, including the 4/18 Distagon, 1:4 16-18-21 Tri-Elmar and some OpTech products, but it'll be a week or two before they're up. Or more: I tend to underestimate these things...

Cheers,

Roger

Thanks Roger! that's great news indeed.

Early on when I started shooting B&W, I had picked up a copy of the "The Black and White Handbook" from the local library. It was great eye-opener into the B&W world. 🙂 Thanks./ 🙂

Great stuff!

I've read four of your books, Rangefinder, Perfect Exposure, Successful Black and White Photography and Medium and Large Format Photography and have found them very informative indeed. Thank you for sharing your experiences with the different photographic equipment with us. 🙂

I can go you two better -- I also own The Lens Book and The Film Book in addition to the four above. All most informative.

Thanks for the reviews, especially that of the Exakta, one of which I am planning to buy (no, the review didn't dissuade me!).

I also should have thanked Roger, instead of complaining.

So 'Thank You' Roger & Frances.
Dear Tom,

No need to apologize! I laughed when I read your original post. We've ALL been there!

And thanks to everyone for the kind words.

The OpTech products are HoodHats and camera cases -- sort of like ER cases. I have to get up into the studio and shoot a lot of pack shots in the next day or two.

Cheers,

Roger
