I was putting my first roll through my new canonet (which I love already) and accidentally pushed the rewind button. The camera locked up entirely... no wind on... no shutter and tht rewind button wouldn't pop back out.
In despair, I rewound the half shot film and took it out.
When I got home, I popped off the bottom plate to see if I could diagnose the problem... when I did, I noticed that the foam gasket around the button had turned to goo, as these things do, and gummed up the button. A little wash with ronsonol and replacement gasket (thanks Jon Goodman 🙂) later and the button is fully free.
Just to pacify any of you that this may have happened to... it's not a mechanical problem... your baby isn't a parts camera yet.
