Frank, if you get rid of all extra 50s and 35, you'll have 6 lenses neatly sitting on the 6 bodies. Just saying ;)

Dear Frank,

1980: various Ms, 21, 35, 50, 90, 135

2011: As above plus 15, 18, 75 (and the 18 is really Frances's).

Why change when you're happy?

And if you're not happy, why not?

Cheers,

R.

The 35mm equipment that is mainly used:

M3, M6, Hexar, Canon P.

Lenses: 25, 28, 35, 50, 75, 90, 105.

I have other cameras and lenses, and they have been with me for a while, and they are being enjoyed too. I am not placing any pressures on myself to get a small set of cameras/lenses since I smile when I see what I have and what i can use each weekend.

One digiRF, one film RF. 35-50-90 for the film kit. Equivalent 24-37-67 for the digi kit. Just like having the wide-normal-tele spread.

I admire your simple approach, 35mmD.

I've been downsizing lately. No regrets actually:

I've had a Leica/LTM camera for less than a year, so I'm still exploring to find out what I like.

At the moment it looks like this -

Leica III/wonderful condition, likely to become my main shooter
Leica IIIc/beat up, backup camera
Summaron 35mm 3.5
Summar 50 2.0
Jupiter 8

I also regularly use a Retina IIIc, Olympus 35RD and Lynx 14.

I'll soon be selling a Leica IIf, Jupiter 12, Summarit 1.5, and a few Industar lenses. Once I settle down on the compact rangefinders - the ergonomics of the 35RD make me second guess myself - I'll probably sell a few more of them.

This is my present kit.

Leica M8.2 or Zeiss Ikon
Leica 28/2.8 Elmarit ASPH
Zeiss ZM 35/2 Biogon
Zeiss ZM 50/2 Planar
CV 90/3.5 APO-Lanthar

I only carry one camera at a time and either the 28 or the 50 leaves the bag depending upon whether I'm using the film or digital camera. Other cameras and lenses make guest appearances, but these are my main shooters.

Sounds like something schoolboys say behind the bike shed. :D

Thing is, do you use them?
The link in your sig' to the gallery has photos from a vacation over two years ago.
Do you have a Flickr page?

Also, isn't "Don't always do what you're told." a bit strange for a mod's sig?

Had a bad day, did we?

M9
21/2.8ZM
35/1.2 CV
50/1.5 J3 sonnar
135/3.5 canon

It's basically a 21/35/75/135 kit, but the 75 I also own sits unused because the 50 sonnar is prefered in that focal range.

single lens kit is the 50/1.5. This is the setup I use by far the most often.
2 lens people indoors kit is the 50 and the 35.
2 lens street and mountaineering (lightweight) is the 21 and 50.
3 lens landscape kit is the 21, 50 and 135.
For city breaks I take all 4 lenses and use them all.

I also have the SF24D flash and off camera cord, a mini-tripod, plus polarising and IR-cut filters. They only get very occasional use though.

My RF kit is pretty simple - my IIIf & Summitar. If I get the money, I could see adding a 90/4 Elmar & a 35/3.5 Summaron to it eventually but no hurry.

Right now I'm mostly shooting the F2 to get to know it

My RF Kits are much more complex than what they were when I joined this forum. I did not have any Canon RF's then. Just Nikon and Retina. Now it's Nikon, Retina, Leica, Canon, Contax, Nicca, Leotax, and just about whatever else was made during the 20th century.

But most of them have a J-3 on them. Except the Retina's. Can't adapt a J-3 to Retina.

I really should try a J3 some time. I love the J8 and could really use a fast lens but am way too paranoid about buying lenses that aren't easy to return. I think half of the lenses I purchased this year were much worse off than I expected from descriptions and photos. Cheap lenses so I just took a loss on them. Oh well.

The J-3 is a great "DIY" lens. Cheap, and not hard to work on.

Most of them require some adjustment. I have been lucky, and some arrive "better than described". but not many. With a little patience, not hard to correct most of them.

J-3 on the M8. Better than when it arrived.

I've decided to really downsize, unclutter and get back to enjoying my photography , try to get back to what it was like when I first started out, (but now backed up with a bit of knowledge). I have decided to sell my Rollei 35 and 35S and have as my rf kit just the following: Lieca IIIC/IIIFBDST, Voigtlander Bessa L and a few lenses. Two RF in a camera bag is enough for me. Nearly forgot I will definately keep the Oly trip

Well, I have 2 RF

Leica M5, CV 28mm f/1.9 ASPH, ZM 50mm f/1.5 C-Sonnar T* (F/2.8 Optimized)

Minolta AF-2, 38mm f/2.8 2 zone AF

Down to one fixed lens rangefinder. Fujica Compact Deluxe. Design perfection that some say is "quirky" but I say is ahead of its time/brilliant! A cache-less Fujinon 50/1.8 that's tops. One lens, one camera. - not like I have very much choice regarding the lens :)

Nick "Alls you really need is a 50 (or equivalent focal length in digital taking crop factor into account) - the rest are extraneous fixes for your camera gear addiction, ditto for having 15 cameras that do essentially the same thing only with slight variations" Trop
